Our Story

A festival born of the harbour.

What started as a few sessions in local bars became Dublin's most-loved coastal music weekend.

Dún Laoghaire Music Festival began in 2023 with a simple idea: bring world-class live music to the streets, bars and ballrooms of the town we love. No fenced-off fields. No queues that stretch into the next county. Just a working harbour, a handful of venues, and four nights of music you can walk between.

We programme across genres — trad sessions in low-lit pubs, indie headliners in grand Victorian rooms, late-night dance floors with the Irish Sea as the back wall — because the music we love refuses to sit in one box. What ties it together is energy, craft and a sense that something real is happening in the room.

The festival is independent, community-rooted, and built each year by a small team of volunteers, promoters and local partners. Every ticket sold goes back into next year's lineup and the venues that host us.
